Mass vaccination is the only way we will achieve herd immunity against COVID-19, halt the pandemic, and make it possible to safely get life back to normal again. People who refuse to be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the free, safe, and tested FDA-authorized vaccines put all of the rest of our lives and health at risk. Even vaccinated people may contract mild COVID-19 from an unvaccinated person, and mild COVID-19 can cause “long covid” and serious long-term disability.
We must all do our part in the fight against COVID-19. Hundreds of millions of people have done the right thing and voluntarily been vaccinated against COVID-19. Unfortunately, a large percentage of people say they will refuse COVID-19 vaccination completely, and many more say they want to wait. It’s time to stop enabling vaccine hesitancy. We believe that COVID-19 vaccination should be required for all people who wish to work taking care of others and do not have a doctor-certified medical exemption, including:
- All health care providers: doctors, nurses, and all other health system employees, since they work in medical environments with people at elevated risk of severe COVID-19
- Teachers who take care of children, many of whom are too young to be vaccinated
- All first responders, since they may expose others while doing their jobs
- Jail and prison guards, since inmates can’t choose whether or not they are exposed
Here’s what you can do to help:
- If you’re not vaccinated, get vaccinated now! It’s free, tested, and safe!
- Sign a petition asking that COVID-19 vaccination be made mandatory for health care providers in your own area. (Don’t see one in your area? Start a petition!)
- Post your local petition links to Facebook, NextDoor, LinkedIn, and relevant local discussion groups on each social media platform.
- Write and call your state legislators and ask them to pass a law requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all people in these groups who don’t have a doctor-certified medical exemption.
- Ask your child’s teacher if they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19. If they haven’t, ask them to get vaccinated!
